Carbon monoxide (CO) is a highly poisonous gas with no colour, taste or smell. In a caravan or motorhome, CO can be produced by gas heating and cooking systems, diesel heaters, vehicle engines, fuels and blocked flues.

The Quell PD04 Carbon Monoxide Alarm provides early warning of dangerous CO levels. Its digital display shows the measured concentration, helping protect your family and your RV. A CO alarm supplements a smoke alarm; it does not replace one.

Where should I mount a CO alarm in my caravan?

CO is slightly lighter than air, so mount at or above mid-height. Place near sleeping areas for maximum safety. Do not place directly next to cooking appliances.

Do I still need this if I have a gas detector?

Yes. A gas detector monitors for unburned gas (LPG/natural gas leaks). A CO alarm detects carbon monoxide produced by combustion. They detect different dangers and should both be present if you have gas or diesel appliances.
