EternaBond Roof Seal Tape – White, 4 Inch × 50 Ft
Water ingress is the single most expensive problem a caravan can develop. Once moisture gets into the walls, it rots timber framing, destroys insulation, and causes mould — and it usually starts at exactly the kind of join that EternaBond Roof Seal Tape is designed to permanently seal.
Used by professional caravan repairers, RV workshops, and maintenance-conscious owners across New Zealand and Australia, EternaBond is the gold standard for permanent sealing of caravan roof seams, Heki vent surrounds, antenna penetrations, pop-top seals, and any other roof joint where a lasting waterproof bond is critical.
Unlike conventional sealants and butyl tapes that crack, dry out, and fail over time — often without you noticing until the damage is done — EternaBond bonds to virtually any clean surface and stays permanently flexible. One application, done correctly, outlasts the caravan.
Why EternaBond Beats Standard Sealants
- Permanent MicroSealant Technology – EternaBond uses a proprietary MicroSealant adhesive that penetrates micro-imperfections in the substrate, forming a bond that standard tapes and sealants simply cannot match
- Stays Flexible for Life – Accommodates the natural expansion and contraction of a caravan roof without cracking or peeling
- Works in Wet Conditions – Can be applied to damp or even slightly wet surfaces — critical for emergency repairs in the field
- No Primer Required on Most Surfaces – Bonds directly to aluminium, fibreglass, EPDM rubber, TPO, polycarbonate, most paints, and timber
- UV Stable – Designed for permanent outdoor exposure — New Zealand's UV environment will not degrade it
- Temperature Range – Performs from well below freezing to high summer roof temperatures
Key Applications for Caravans
- Roof seam sealing – The most common water ingress point on any caravan
- Heki and roof vent surrounds – Seal around all roof vent flanges for permanent waterproofing
- Pop-top lid seals – Reseal the joint between the pop-top lid and the caravan body
- Aerial and antenna penetrations – Seal cable entry points through the roof
- Roof rack and accessory mounting points – Any penetration through the roof surface
- Repair over failed sealant – Apply directly over old butyl or silicone (once cleaned) without removing it
Application is Straightforward
- Clean the surface thoroughly — remove loose material, dust, and grease
- Cut tape to length
- Peel backing and press firmly along the seam, working from one end
- Roll firmly to ensure full contact and eliminate air pockets
- That's it — no curing time required, bond is immediate
A 50ft (15.24m) roll covers most full roof re-sealing jobs. Add to cart and protect your caravan from the outside in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply EternaBond directly over my existing sealant? Yes, in most cases. Clean away any loose, crumbling, or flaking material, degrease the surface, and apply the EternaBond tape directly over the existing sealant. You do not need to remove sound, adhered sealant underneath.
Do I need a primer? On most caravan surfaces — aluminium, fibreglass, EPDM, and painted surfaces — no primer is required. On some porous or contaminated surfaces, EternaBond WebSeal primer (available separately from specialist suppliers) improves adhesion further. For typical caravan roof re-sealing, primer is not necessary.
How long does the bond last? EternaBond is marketed as a permanent sealing solution and is widely used in commercial roofing applications where decades-long performance is expected. In caravan applications, properly applied EternaBond typically outlasts the vehicle.
Can I use this in the rain or on a wet roof? EternaBond is one of the very few roof tapes that can be applied to a damp surface — making it genuinely useful for emergency waterproofing in the field. For optimal bond strength, a dry, clean surface is always preferable, but the tape will adhere and seal even when the surface is slightly wet.
Will this work on my pop-top caravan? Yes. EternaBond is widely used on pop-top lid seals. Ensure the surface is clean and apply along the full length of the joint. The tape's permanent flexibility means it handles the movement involved in raising and lowering the pop-top without cracking.
Can EternaBond be removed if needed? EternaBond is designed as a permanent application. While it can be removed with significant effort (heat gun and careful peeling), it should be considered permanent. Do not use it in applications where removal may be required.
Is 4 inches wide enough for my roof seams? 4 inches (approximately 100mm) is the most popular width for general caravan roof seam sealing — wide enough to bridge a seam with generous overlap on both sides. For very wide seams or full overlap sealing of roof panels, wider rolls are available from specialist suppliers. For most caravan vent surrounds and seams, 4 inches is the correct choice.
What is the difference between EternaBond RoofSeal and WebSeal? RoofSeal (this product) has a solid polyethylene film backing. WebSeal has a woven fibreglass mesh backing that provides additional reinforcement for heavily textured surfaces. For smooth caravan roofs, RoofSeal is the standard choice.
